Rescued

Read 2 Peter 2:1–22

In October 1987, people all over the world watched the news coming out of Midland, Texas, as workers labored though the night to reach and rescue Baby Jessica McClure from the eight-inch well pipe into which she had fallen. Fortunately, that story had a happy ending; after some sixty hours of being trapped, Baby Jessica was reunited with her parents.

Unfortunately, not all rescue stories end that way. Miners get trapped when mines collapse. Soldiers get separated from the rest of the troops in battle. Within the Church, it is not uncommon for believers to face trials and difficult situations in which they may feel trapped.

The wonderful news is that we serve a God who “knows how to rescue godly men from trials” (2 Peter 2:9). No matter what situation you find yourself in today, you serve a powerful and loving God who is always on your side. While the pressures of life may seem overwhelming, our God is bigger than any trial before you. He longs for you to trust in His ability to rescue you from your trials.

Prayer Suggestion: I praise You, Heavenly Father, for You are great and powerful and able to rescue your servants from their trials.
